What is Scholarship@SOU?
Scholarship@SOU is our central institutional repository for research by the SOU community. Hannon Library manages the repository to make SOU's scholarship easily discoverable and accessible to anyone, anywhere in the world.

Who can submit materials to Scholarship@SOU?
We welcome submissions from all members of the SOU community, including faculty, students, staff, and administrators.

What materials can be submitted?
Materials relating to your research output are accepted. Common items submitted include articles, book chapters, conference presentations, poster session materials, white papers, open educational resources, and more.

Why should I deposit my work in Scholarship@SOU?
Benefits of submitting your materials include:
- More exposure to your scholarship as it is freely available
- Potential for increased citations to your work
- Long-term preservation of your work and the associated metadata
- Persistent access with a URL that will not disappear

My publisher retains the copyright to my article. Can I submit a reprint of the article?
It depends on what the journal allows, which is usually specified in their agreement with you. If it would not violate copyright to post the reprint in your institutional repository, you're welcome to do so. Permissions for many publishers can be found in the database, Sherpa Romeo. If you're still unsure whether you have permission to share your work, the library will work with you to confirm the rights status of your material.

What file formats are accepted?
MS Word or PDF files are the preferred file types, but other file types are accepted. For a more detailed list, refer to the File Formats page.
